Manifesting for Beginners
By now you’ve heard of manifesting – the practice of intentionally creating what you want with your thoughts. You may have read the book The Secret or some of the newer books on the subject like You are Badass by Jen Sincero. Manifesting, at it’s most basic, is the practice of what you think, you become. Manifesting is self-fulfilling prophecy. If you believe something about yourself it will eventually come to pass.
The problem is that most of us tend to think negatively about ourselves. We wake up in the morning and think we look bad, are too fat or that if only we had white teeth, straighter hair or fixed some other perceived flaw, we’d be happier. We fixate on our flaws instead of noticing all the things that make us wonderful and unique.
The person who manifests their dreams into reality doesn’t waste their time on negative thinking.
As you can imagine, someone focused on their flaws is probably less happy than someone who focuses on their strengths. Someone who is happier is probably going to try new things more willingly – take risks – and succeed in many of them. The person who see only their flaws is less likely to take risks and thus less likely to experience success from trying new things.
Manifesting is actually pretty easy, but if you aren’t used to doing it, it can take a while to become second nature. You have to actively practice positive thinking. The good news is that it is easy to do, and can be an awful lot of fun. If you’re new to manifesting and aren’t sure how to get started you can do these three things to start. Certainly, a book is a great place to start – and I encourage you research as much as you can about the Law of Attraction and how it can make your life much more fulfilling and enjoyable. There are many great books about the subject, a quick Google search will get your started, or a trip to your local library might be a great place to start too.
Manifesting for Beginners
What You Think, You Become
If you think it, you will attract it, so think things that you want, and not what you don’t want. The universe that provides doesn’t make distinctions between the positive and the negative. If you think to yourself how tired you are of living paycheck to paycheck that is what the universe will continue to provide to you. You have to change the way you think when manifesting. Instead of thinking “I’m tired of being broke all the time” think about that which you are grateful for. For example “I’m grateful that I can pay my rent”. Don’t bother with the “buts” – as in “I’m grateful I can pay my rent BUT wish it wasn’t such a struggle to do so each month”. Be thankful for what you have an move one. Don’t dwell on the negative.
By thinking this way you’re putting out to the universe that you have that which you seek and the universe will continue to give you more of it. Pay attention to your thoughts as you go through the day and stop yourself when you start focusing on the negative. Turn it around quickly by finding something about that negative that is positive and focus on that. Then move on with your day.
If you want to manifest anything – health, love, wealth, happiness, etc.. start thinking about it – a lot. If you’d like to travel the world, but don’t know how you’d ever get enough time off from your job or enough money to fly around the world – start thinking about traveling. No agenda, just daydream.
Be Grateful
A big part of manifesting is acknowledging what you do have and being grateful that it was provided to you. When you do this, the universe gives you even more of the wonderful things you have and are grateful for. Spend time throughout the day counting your blessings. Not only will you open yourself up to receiving more of the things you cherish, but you’ll be happier when you remind yourself of all the great things you really do have.
Don’t Worry
It takes a fair amount of mental faith to manifest great things, don’t be deterred by the hows. If you’ve dreamed of giving up your job to be a full time writer you could get bogged down in the hows of it. How do you go about becoming an author? How will you pay your bills if you don’t have a steady job? Before you know it, you’ve thought yourself out of your dream and you never even try. Don’t worry how the thing that you wish to become is going to happen, just believe that it will and imagine yourself doing the thing you’ve always dreamed about.
Manifesting doesn’t happen overnight – though sometimes it does. It takes practice. Start small, be grateful and eventually you’ll achieve that which your heart desires, and in the process you’ll be a much more fulfilled and happy soul.
